More than a shadow of his former self
Shadow Report – Sunday February 11
Sunday the 11th was the best ever shoot so far in 2024. Not because of a variety of challenging targets; not because of the attendance of 3 new members, who were trained to the highest standards, which translated to excellent shooting; it was because Ray, our illustrious Club Captain once again excelled at his job, and announced to all who attended, he wants to take on more and more responsibility. Three cheers for Ray! I look forward to greater things each and every Sunday!
The shoot was very challenging with three targets. Two of them were small cut out precision targets and at 20 and 15 metres it certainly was a hard shoot. Looking at the results, it shows our members are capable of a high standard of shooting at longer rangers. Anybody can put holes in the black at 10 metres, but here at CHRSLPC we like to raise the bar to a higher standard.
The atmosphere at the shoot on Sunday was fun, but serious with everybody fulfilling their role so professionally. Especially the President, who is a shining light in leadership and motivation, dedicated his time to training 3 new members, at the cost of his own shooting time. He is my hero! His training talents were reflected in the new members results. The number of 10s will sound a warning to some of the more experienced members at future competitions. Note; the results are confirmed and vetted by the President himself. I quote “the very best shoot by far WITH the President attending”.
Grant L (again) first in RimFire. Paulette, second with her brand new fancy acquisition. To put her result in context, she beat the ever consistent and high performing Jim. I look forward to seeing these two compete over the next few weeks. I just hope it doesn’t get emotional for Jim. But secretly I hope it does and when that happens, I will be there to congratulate Paulette.
In CentreFire, Craig finished last. I think he was nervous and possibly intimidated by the presence of the President. It also didn’t help, when during Craig’s shoot, the President kept yelling out “another 10”, as the new shooters fired off rounds under his tutelage.
If you haven’t already guessed, we are having a great time on Sunday’s. I can only say, get yourselves off your backsides and get yourselves shooting.
